A Million Light Years, Far Away

The sky in Pennsylvania
Looks like heaven at day’s dawn
The sun’s about to shine her light
And burn with gassy brawn

The moon that’s setting in the West
Is full and cratered through
I think about celestial beings
And then I think of you

The way that you still rotate
Inside my wretched mind
Your supernova broke me
I’m stardust left behind

Left inside this vacuum
I try to coalesce
I fight to gather all my parts
No order, just a mess

The chemistry that broke us
Might one day break me too
When gravity starts taking hold
There’s nothing left to do

Would it be unfair if I found you
And asked you for my turn?
A million light years, far away
And still you’d never learn
A million light years, far away
And still for you I burn
